Quick answers
Can I put a socket in my island?
Yes. A pop up socket sits in the worktop and plugs into a socket in the island cabinet; no hard-wiring.
Where does it go?
In the worktop, at the end of your prep zone. Clear of the sink and hob, and back from the seating edge.
Which one should I get?
Use the finder below. The motorised V3 suits most islands; the four-sided V14B serves both sides.

Placement
Where it goes on the island
End of the prep zone. Where the mixer and kettle get used, back from the seating edge (A).
Two on long islands. One at each end, so no cord crosses the top (B).
Clear of the sink and hob. Pop up sockets are for indoor, dry locations.
Check what’s underneath. Drawers, a dishwasher or the sink can block the spot; use the fit checker below.
Tool
Will it fit under your worktop?
Pick the space you have below the worktop to see which pop ups fit.
Space under your worktop
Measure from the top of the worktop down to the first thing in the way: a drawer, the sink bowl or a shelf. The V3 motorised’s space needs are on its product page.
Safety

Indoor and dry. Pop up sockets are rated IP20, for indoor, dry locations.
Clear of the sink and hob. Choose a spot away from water and heat.
No hard-wiring. Each one has a fitted UK plug that goes into a socket in the cabinet below.
A qualified electrician. Use one for the socket it plugs into.
On the motorised models the closed lid helps keep spills out. How pop up sockets work explains the lift types.
Wiring
Getting power to the island
Plan it before the worktop goes in. An island isn’t against a wall, so power usually comes up through the floor or across from a nearby cabinet.
A socket in the cabinet
A qualified electrician fits a socket inside the island cabinet. Every pop up here plugs into it, so the pop up itself needs no hard-wiring.
A fitted UK plug
The lead is about 1.8m long (1.5m on the V16), plenty to reach a socket inside the cabinet.

Questions
Kitchen island socket FAQs
Are pop up sockets safe in a kitchen island?
Yes, when they’re fitted properly and kept dry. They’re made for indoor, dry locations (IP20), and on the motorised models the closed lid helps keep spills out. Keep them clear of the sink and hob, and use a qualified electrician for the socket they plug into.
Do island pop up sockets need to be hard-wired?
No. Each one has a fitted UK plug on its lead (about 1.5m on the V16, 1.8m on the others) that goes into a socket in the island cabinet.
Can a pop up socket go in a quartz or granite island?
Yes. Your worktop fitter cuts a round hole to the size on the product page, from 65mm for the V3L to 120mm for the V14B.
How much space does it need under the worktop?
From 180mm for the V14B to 580mm for the slim V3L; the V1 needs 340mm and the V16 350mm. Use the fit checker above before you choose the spot, especially over drawers.
What’s the best socket for a kitchen island?
The motorised V3 for most islands. If people use both sides, the four-sided V14B. If you charge laptops at the island, the V16 with 65W USB-C.
